The St. Margaret De Castello Medal is a beautiful hand-carved pictorial of St. Margaret (derived from the greek work margaron, which means pearl in Greek) set into a round sterling silver bezel.  A timeless piece of hand-carved and handmade artisan jewelry designed to be worn every day with your favorite small silver chain, a leather cord or perhaps permanently attached to a silver charm bracelet.  Wear the St. Margaret of Castello Medal as a meaningful touchstone during prayer or consider giving it as a special gift.

The Small St. Margaret De Castello Medal is part of the “Faithful Servant Collection,” designed and carved exclusively for Catholic Charities of Wichita, Kansas, (Sarah Jane’s beautiful hometown).  All profits from the sale of each St. Margaret Medal go directly to CCW’s Faithful Servant Fund which in turn are used to support  Adult Day Services.  Adult Day Services is an important part of the Wichita community since 1975.  Offering families seeking day services for seniors or adults with developmental or intellectual disabilities a safe, loving and enriching environment.

This newly carved small St. Margaret De Castello Medal represents one of CCW's 13 ministries.  We love this silver charm for its wearable size and scale (medallion is approximately 3/4" squared - size of a nickel), its sacred meaning, and exquisite carving and finishing.  A piece of local artisan jewelry you can always feel good about wearing.  Our 3rd of 13 charms - collect them all!

Who was St. Margaret De Castello:

St. Margaret was born blind, a dwarf, and with severe curvature of the spine.  She was born into nobility by parents who were embarrassed by her and hid her from all.  A maid gave her the name Margaret which means pearl in greek.  After being imprisoned by her parents for a decade, she was taken to a church in hope of a miracle.  But when no miracle occurred, her parents left her there.  The town took care of her and soon after, she thanked the townspeople by opening a small school to teach children in their faith and psalms.  St. Margaret De Castello is the patron saint of the disabled.  (Feast Day: April 13th)
