St. Christopher (also known as Reprobus) was a martyr who died under the Roman Emperor Decius. He was beheaded.  In his search to please Christ, it is said he would help people cross a dangerous river where many had died trying.  Once, while carrying a small child across, the water began to rise too high and the child became heavier and heavier.  He and the child barely survived.  St. Christopher asked the child why he was so heavy and the child said that He was the Christ and when he carried him, he also carried all the weight of the world on his shoulders.  Christopher means "Christ-bearer" and eludes to him carrying the Christ child across the river.  He is the patron of travelers and children.  St. Christopher is not officially recognized by the church. He has no beatification or canonization.  (Feast Day:  July 25th)
